Navua River Tubing Tour
By Bula Online Fiji Tours and Watersports
- Day tour
- Full day (about 8.30am – 3.30pm)
- Viti Levu

About this activity
Spend a full day on the Navua River, in the highlands behind Fiji's southern coast. A 45-minute long-boat ride carries you inland through the river gorge, past rainforest walls and waterfalls, to a traditional Fijian village where your hosts welcome you and show you around. You meet the students at the village primary school, swim beneath a freshwater waterfall, and sit down to a buffet lunch with mountain and river views. Then comes the part the trip is named for: a tube, a life jacket and a gentle float back downstream through easy rapids. Return transfers are included, with pick-ups from Nadi resorts and all Coral Coast resorts. The tour runs Monday to Saturday, roughly 8.30am to 3.30pm door to door. What to bring: swimwear and a towel, sunscreen, a hat, footwear that can get wet, and a dry bag or waterproof case for your camera.

Things to do in Viti Levu, Fiji: sights, tours, and day trips
Most Fiji trips land at Nadi and head straight for a boat — but Viti Levu itself rewards a few days. The island packs sand dunes, hot springs, hill forts, Fiji's biggest Hindu temple, and a working capital city into a coastline you can drive in a day. Everything below is on the main island, reachable by rental car or day tour from Nadi or the Coral Coast.
Best stays in Nadi, Fiji: airport, Denarau and the beaches
Nadi is where almost every Fiji trip begins: the international airport, the Queens Road south to the Coral Coast, and the marina at Denarau where the island boats leave. Most travellers stay a night or two here on either side of an island stay, so the area runs from airport hotels to full resorts.
Day tours from Nadi: what you can do in a day from Fiji's arrival city
Nadi's operators run most of Viti Levu's day trips: the Sabeto hot springs and mud pools just north of town, the Biausevu waterfall village walk on the Coral Coast, fishing and snorkelling off the west coast, and full-day loops that string several together. Every tour below is run by a Fijian operator and can be booked directly on Kalena.
Where to stay in Fiji: Nadi, the Coral Coast, Suva and beyond
Fiji's main island, Viti Levu, is where most visitors sleep, and where you stay depends on what you came for: Nadi and Denarau for the airport and the island ferries, the Coral Coast between Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour for beach resorts, Suva for the capital and its markets. Kalena lists Viti Levu properties with guest ratings from verified sources.
Best resorts in Fiji: Viti Levu's top-rated beach and golf resorts
Fiji's resort belt runs along the south and west of Viti Levu: Denarau Island beside Nadi, Natadola and Momi Bay to the south, the Coral Coast from Sigatoka to Pacific Harbour. Kalena lists 34 rated resorts across those areas; the list below is ordered by guest rating from verified sources, not by who pays for placement.
Denarau Island, Fiji: resorts, the marina and getting around
Denarau Island sits about 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport, on the west coast of Viti Levu, and it's where most of Fiji's international resort brands cluster — Hilton, Sofitel, Sheraton, Radisson Blu, Westin and Wyndham all have properties here, joined by shared roads and a golf course rather than a public town. Many Fiji trips spend a night or two on Denarau, either side of time on an outer island, since the marina at Port Denarau is the departure point most travellers use for boats out to the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, and its retail strip is where the island's restaurants and duty-free shops sit. This guide covers what's actually on the island, how the resorts compare, and how far you are from everywhere else on Viti Levu.
Things to do on the Coral Coast, Fiji: waterfalls, snorkelling and fishing
The Coral Coast is the run of Queens Road shoreline south-east of Sigatoka, and while its resorts and hotels are covered in our where-to-stay guide, the coast has its own short list of things to actually do away from the pool: a waterfall walk into a working village, snorkelling on the reef inside a marine reserve, game and handline fishing, and a surf trip, all run by an operator based in Sigatoka town rather than at any one resort. Next door, Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park adds a self-guided walk through Fiji's largest dune system, right beside the Sigatoka River mouth. None of it requires a resort booking on this stretch of coast — day visitors staying anywhere on Viti Levu can join in.
Fiji in the dry season: what to expect (May–October)
Fiji's dry season runs roughly May to October — lower humidity, less rain and cooler nights than the rest of the year — and it's also the country's peak season, since it lines up with school holidays in Australia and New Zealand. That means better odds of a clear day for the outdoor tours below, but also busier resorts and tours that are worth booking ahead rather than on arrival, particularly around the July and September/October school-holiday windows. The wet season, November to April, is hotter and more humid with afternoon rain that tends to clear rather than settle in, so mornings are the safer slot for anything outdoors if you're travelling then. Either season, Viti Levu's day trips and beaches are open for business — this guide is about setting expectations, not steering you away from either half of the year.
