I recently stayed at Tokatoka Resort Fiji and wanted to share my experience. The hotel itself was very clean, well‑maintained, and located in a convenient area close to the airport. These aspects made the stay comfortable and enjoyable. However, the experience on the day of checkout—26 July—was disappointing due to the behaviour of one of the morning staff members. I believe her name was Joanna. When I asked how soon the hotel shuttle would arrive, as we had already been waiting for more than 30 minutes around 6.30am on the day and were becoming very late for airport check‑in, her response was extremely unprofessional. She replied in a rude manner, saying it was not her problem. She appeared hesitant to help, and her attitude did not reflect the standards expected from a resort representing Fiji’s hospitality. The looks she gave us were also concerning and made the interaction feel hostile. In contrast, the gentleman working alongside her was polite and genuinely tried his best to assist us. Tokatoka Resort has a good location and clean facilities, but staff behaviour plays a major role in the overall guest experience. I strongly urge management to provide additional training to this staff member in particular, especially in customer service and professional conduct. Moments like these can significantly impact the resort’s reputation.

Every time I go to Fiji I always stay here for the first few nights and the last few nights. The kids love it and so have my family when they come too. You don't know how many people I've recommended this hotel to and for them to love it just as much as I do.

Stayed here as an option close to the airport the night before a flight. Although you can tell the rooms are dated, it was exceptionally clean and had all the amenities you could need. I only stayed a night but would not have minded staying longer.

We stayed at Tokatoka Resort because our large family group was all staying there together, and while it suited that purpose, it unfortunately wasn’t somewhere I would choose to stay again. The children did enjoy the waterslide and pool area, which was definitely a highlight for families with kids. The resort is also conveniently close to the airport, making it useful as a short transit stop before or after a flight. That said, the resort itself feels quite tired and dated, and in my opinion it has changed very little over the past 20 years. The rooms were dark, very warm, and had a noticeable smell, which made them feel less comfortable than expected. Overall, the property could really benefit from refurbishment and better ventilation. Although the airport is nearby, I personally wouldn’t recommend trying to walk there in the Fiji heat, especially with children and luggage. A taxi is by far the easier option. I don’t mean this review to be offensive, as Fiji is a beautiful country with many wonderful accommodation options, but I do feel this property falls below the standard many visitors may expect. With some investment and updating, Tokatoka Resort could be much better than it currently is. Lovely staff though 🥰

First the good; the coffee shop staff was welcoming, the coffee and wrap were good, and a shout out to Arieta who did a great job. The front desk folk and restaurant people were also friendly and enthusiastic. My fish cooked in coconut and rum on the rocks was excellent. I had room 122 which was spacious, had an effective air conditioner, and was clean. Bed was firm, came with 4 pillows (nice). Shower was spacious and had plenty of hot water. The problem came with my arrival and check in. The hotel has a guy who is supposed to great you as you walk out of the airport and put you on the shuttle. My guy was nowhere to be found….it took me 20 minutes and two calls to the front desk before I hunted him down at the far end of the taxi area where I found him chatting with his buddies. As I rolled up to him he flashed the hotel sign and said, ‘welcome home.’ As it turns out, the hotel is all of 3 blocks away. I could have rolled over there on foot faster. When I checked in, they took me to my room which was still uncleaned from the past guest; dirty dishes, bedding unmade and unwashed. They fixed it, taking me to the room described above. Hotel is easy walk to the airport. I didn’t jump in the pool, but saw kids and parents loving it.

This has got to be one of the worst most unclean, unprofessional resort i have ever been to and i have travelled alot. We checked in around 6pm to a room that still hadnt been turned over by the previous occupier, went to the front desk to complain and they asked us to wait 30mins so they could clean the room. I requested a new room so they found a new room for us. The next room appeared to be okay however upon going to the bathroom we noticed the floor in toilet was wet with what looked like pee. I also noticed that the bed cover looked a little dirty but thought its possibly discoloured as its white. As Fiji is quite warm especially overnight and we dont like sleeping with the aircon on (we couldnt leave the fan on as the fan was attached to the main light that wouldnt switch off without the fan being turned off) we slept onto of the covers. During the night i felt cold so i put the blanket on but when i woke up the next i was hot again as it was 1pm. Upon waking up and having the bed sheets pulled back i noticed blood on the bottom sheet. I was instantly disgusted so we went to the front desk and reported it to one of the staff and requested the room to be completely turned over again. We went to get food and i just couldnt get over how unclean the resort was and felt so disgusted that they hadnt changed the rooms over properly that upon our return i told the front desk that we wanted to check out and requested a refund due to the uncleanliness of the 2 rooms. They offered another room but i refused as i was already given 2 unclean rooms and was completely put off the resort. The staff at reception were so unprofessional and told me i would have to pay a early cancellation fee which is declined to pay as its not my fault we are having to leave. After speaking with the Manager Kara she went to check the bed sheet that i had reported had blood on it, she came back and said yes they saw it and in order for me to get my refund i need to contact wotif.com to have them contact Kara to authorise the refund which she agreed she would happily do. Wotif advised they had tried calling the resort but the line was busy and they said to check out and they would follow up the resort for the refund authorisation that Kara had agreed to. After 24 hours i got an email from wotif saying that the resort had changed there mind on providing a refund to us for there incompetence and uncleanliness. I am appalled that a resort like this can still operate after how rude, unprofessional and how dirty it was. I must add when we were checking in another lady who was also checking in had issues there and was losing her temper at the staff because they had lied to her about the room being ready and other things. NEVER BOOK THIS HOTEL. STAY AWAY. SPEND THE MONEY ELSEWHERE!!!!
