Best stays in Nadi, Fiji: airport, Denarau and the beaches
Nadi is where almost every Fiji trip begins: the international airport, the Queens Road south to the Coral Coast, and the marina at Denarau where the island boats leave. Most travellers stay a night or two here on either side of an island stay, so the area runs from airport hotels to full resorts.
Where to stay in Fiji: Nadi, the Coral Coast, Suva and beyond
Fiji's main island, Viti Levu, is where most visitors sleep, and where you stay depends on what you came for: Nadi and Denarau for the airport and the island ferries, the Coral Coast between Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour for beach resorts, Suva for the capital and its markets. Kalena lists Viti Levu properties with guest ratings from verified sources.
Best resorts in Fiji: Viti Levu's top-rated beach and golf resorts
Fiji's resort belt runs along the south and west of Viti Levu: Denarau Island beside Nadi, Natadola and Momi Bay to the south, the Coral Coast from Sigatoka to Pacific Harbour. Kalena lists 34 rated resorts across those areas; the list below is ordered by guest rating from verified sources, not by who pays for placement.

Short summary. Bedbugs, no wi-fi in rooms, no hot water, a lot of cleanliness issues. I can start off with the positives. After asking about transport to the resort at 5am when our flight arrived, we were greeted at the resort by someone when we arrived at those wee hours of the morning. It was unexpected and really appreciated. I think it shows the staff do try but as we found out, there are many aspects that need improvement. We were led to our “villa”, but the “villas” are demountables and are adjoined by thin walls. I was awoken by scratching and I discovered a lot of dead bugs underneath me. Bed bugs of all things. The first time I ever experienced this. I went to the front desk and we got changed, no questions asked. The location within Wailoaloa is pretty good, close to the beach and close to all the restaurants and bars. The resort service is hit and miss. Some are quite friendly but others like the person who led us to the replacement room said not a single word to us. Literally not a single word. When we finally awoke to register, we were given our Wifi vouchers for 2 devices in total and advised the Wifi only works in the common area. Sure enough, the wifi is plain not working and not available in the room. I think Wifi not being available in rooms is unacceptable in this present day. It should be made clear in the property description that several of the rooms do not have wifi at all. I am quite sure no-one would ever choose a room where wifi is only being available in the common area. The rooms themselves are rather dirty and run down. And I have stayed in quite run down villages in Europe and SE Asia. I haven’t really seen such a level such as this, let alone bed bugs as well. Drains have grime, pillows as pictured are dirty and fixtures are breaking. There are general cleanliness issues around, including the toilet with what I hope are rust stains. Doonas are provided with only a top sheet and not a bottom sheet meaning the doona is against your body. The doonas also don’t seem to be washed between guests, but put in the sun. I also haven’t seen this in any of the accommodation in Australia, Asia or Europe. It is also difficult to relax. At the pool, there are no sunloungers and no pool towels, so you need to use your room towels. There are cafe chairs and tables at the bar, but it’s not really relaxing. It’s worth mentioning also that rooms are only serviced every third day. The room towels can be changed at the front office. In the rooms, the hot water is generally non-existent, due to a reliance on rusting solar water systems.. If you like cold showers, you are in luck. A close by incinerator is used daily to burn leaves, plastic, cardboard, refuse and anything else in a huge fire and smoke wafts around the whole resort, including into nearby villas, filling them up. This also happens in SE Asia, but they usually do it away from the rooms, not metres away. All in all, despite reasonable service, the resort just is not up to scratch in many areas taken for granted in present day.

We stayed across the road and came in for lunch with zero expectations and all I can say is WOW!! Best meal we’ve had during our 10 days in Fiji, probably the best Beef Sui I’ve ever had. Highly recommend a visit! You need to try the Rou Rou Balls if it’s on the menu, delicious

Was walking past and I could smell the food, so I dropped in for some early lunch, I was able to get a table and ordered a banana smoothie and an omelette, the staff who took my order got it made so quickly and the banana smoothie was AMAZING 😍, I was so impressed by it I completely forgot to take a photo of the omelette which was just awesome. So glad I dropped in for some amazing food.
