Denarau Island, Fiji: resorts, the marina and getting around
Denarau Island sits about 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport, on the west coast of Viti Levu, and it's where most of Fiji's international resort brands cluster — Hilton, Sofitel, Sheraton, Radisson Blu, Westin and Wyndham all have properties here, joined by shared roads and a golf course rather than a public town. Many Fiji trips spend a night or two on Denarau, either side of time on an outer island, since the marina at Port Denarau is the departure point most travellers use for boats out to the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, and its retail strip is where the island's restaurants and duty-free shops sit. This guide covers what's actually on the island, how the resorts compare, and how far you are from everywhere else on Viti Levu.

About this guide
Denarau isn't a village — it's a gated resort development on reclaimed land, so there's no local high street; instead you get a cluster of large hotels, a golf course, and the Port Denarau retail and marina precinct for dining and the outer-island boats. That trade-off is the whole appeal: everything sits within a short walk or shuttle ride, and the resorts here carry some of Kalena's highest guest ratings on Viti Levu, from golf-course properties to beachfront towers. Few standalone day tours are based on the island itself; most of Viti Levu's hot-springs, waterfall and snorkelling trips run out of greater Nadi or the Coral Coast and can often arrange pickup from the Denarau resorts, so check our Nadi day-tours guide for the full list and confirm pickup on the tour page before booking. Heading onward, the Coral Coast starts roughly 30 to 60 minutes south along the Queens Road, and Nadi International Airport is about 20 minutes back the way you came.

Best stays in Nadi, Fiji: airport, Denarau and the beaches
Nadi is where almost every Fiji trip begins: the international airport, the Queens Road south to the Coral Coast, and the marina at Denarau where the island boats leave. Most travellers stay a night or two here on either side of an island stay, so the area runs from airport hotels to full resorts.
Day tours from Nadi: what you can do in a day from Fiji's arrival city
Nadi's operators run most of Viti Levu's day trips: the Sabeto hot springs and mud pools just north of town, the Biausevu waterfall village walk on the Coral Coast, fishing and snorkelling off the west coast, and full-day loops that string several together. Every tour below is run by a Fijian operator and can be booked directly on Kalena.
Where to stay in Fiji: Nadi, the Coral Coast, Suva and beyond
Fiji's main island, Viti Levu, is where most visitors sleep, and where you stay depends on what you came for: Nadi and Denarau for the airport and the island ferries, the Coral Coast between Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour for beach resorts, Suva for the capital and its markets. Kalena lists Viti Levu properties with guest ratings from verified sources.
