Things to do in Viti Levu, Fiji: sights, tours, and day trips

Most Fiji trips land at Nadi and head straight for a boat — but Viti Levu itself rewards a few days. The island packs sand dunes, hot springs, hill forts, Fiji's biggest Hindu temple, and a working capital city into a coastline you can drive in a day. Everything below is on the main island, reachable by rental car or day tour from Nadi or the Coral Coast.

About this guide

Viti Levu splits into a handful of day-trip zones. Around Nadi: the Sri Siva Subramaniya temple at the south end of town, the produce market, and the Sabeto valley with its mud pools and the Garden of the Sleeping Giant orchid collection. South along the Queens Road: Natadola Beach, then the Sigatoka area with the sand dunes national park and Tavuni Hill Fort above the river valley. Further east sit Pacific Harbour and Suva, the capital. Day cruises to the offshore islands leave from Port Denarau. Guided full-day loops cover the Nadi and Sigatoka zones without you driving; the rest works best self-driven. Fiji uses the Fijian dollar (FJD); dress modestly and take off hats and sunglasses when visiting villages.
