Best beaches in Viti Levu, Fiji

Honest answer first: Viti Levu is not where Fiji keeps its postcard beaches — those are out in the Mamanucas and Yasawas. But the main island has a handful of genuinely good ones, led by Natadola, and knowing which stretch suits you saves a mediocre beach day.

About this guide

Natadola Beach on the southwest coast is the one everyone agrees on — a long horseshoe of white sand with swimmable water at most tides, 45 minutes from Nadi. Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi is dark volcanic sand; you stay there for the airport access, sunset views toward the Mamanucas, and the beach-bar strip rather than the swimming. The Coral Coast bays between Korotogo and Pacific Harbour are pretty and quiet but reef-flat at low tide — check tide times before planning a swim. Momi Bay, south of Nadi, holds a sheltered lagoon. At the island's northern tip, Volivoli's point near Rakiraki is sand backed by dive operations working the Bligh Waters. Denarau's beach is man-made and grey — go for the marina, not the sand. Day cruises from Port Denarau reach the offshore white-sand islands in under two hours.
