3 days in Fiji: a Nadi + Coral Coast itinerary
Three days in Fiji is short — too short for the outer islands unless you enjoy spending half your trip on transfers. This plan stays on Viti Levu, basing in Nadi and day-tripping: one day for the town and the Sabeto valley, one for the Coral Coast and Sigatoka, and a flexible final day at Natadola or on a Denarau day cruise before your flight.
About this guide
Nadi International Airport sits at the top of Nadi town, which makes Nadi, Wailoaloa Beach, or Denarau Island the practical bases for a short trip — everything in this plan is 15 to 90 minutes from all three. Drive yourself (Fiji drives on the left) or use day tours; the Sabeto valley and Sigatoka loops both run as guided half- and full-days from Nadi hotels. Carry small FJD notes for entry fees and the markets. In villages — including Viseisei — dress modestly and remove hats and sunglasses; your guide or host will walk you through any welcome protocol. Tap water in the Nadi tourist zones is generally fine; the sun is not, so treat 10am–2pm as reef-shirt hours.
Day-by-day plan (3 days)
Day 1: Arrive Nadi — temple, market, Wailoaloa sunset
Land at Nadi, settle in, and spend the afternoon on the town itself — its Hindu temple is the most striking building in the South Pacific, and the market is where Nadi actually shops.
Morning
- Transit
Nadi International Airport (NAN) → your Nadi, Wailoaloa, or Denarau base. 10–30 minutes by taxi or pre-booked shuttle.(~20 min)
Afternoon
- Visit
Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple — the towering Dravidian-style Hindu temple at the south end of Nadi town. Modest dress, shoes off; a small entry donation covers a self-guided walk.
- Visit
Nadi Market — pyramids of taro, kava root, and whatever fruit is in season. Best people-watching in town and the cheapest papaya of your trip.
Evening
- Visit
Nadi town — dinner at a curry house on the main street (Nadi's Indo-Fijian food is a highlight), or head to the Wailoaloa beach bars for sunset toward the Mamanucas.
- Transit
Day 2: Sabeto valley — mud pools, orchids, Viseisei
The classic Nadi half-day loop, stretched into a slow full day. The Sabeto valley sits 20 minutes north of the airport under the Sleeping Giant ridge line.
Morning
- Visit
Garden of the Sleeping Giant — orchid garden in the Sabeto foothills with a boardwalk loop through rainforest. Cooler in the morning; allow about an hour.
- Visit
Sabeto Hot Springs & Mud Pool — coat yourself in mud, bake dry, then soak it off through progressively warmer pools. Bring a dark swimsuit and a towel you don't love.
Afternoon
- Visit
Viseisei Village — oral tradition holds this as the first Fijian landing site. Visits are villager-guided; dress modestly and remove your hat.
- Visit
Vuda Marina — late-afternoon drink at the marina restaurant watching the yachts come in, 10 minutes from Viseisei.
Evening
- Visit
Port Denarau Marina — dinner at the marina's restaurant strip. If tomorrow's plan is a day cruise, this is also where you'll board — scout the departure boards tonight.
- Visit
Day 3: Coral Coast day trip or Natadola, then fly out
With an evening flight, you have a full day. Option A (this plan): drive the Queens Road south for the Sigatoka dunes and Natadola Beach. Option B: a Port Denarau day cruise to the offshore islands — book ahead.
Morning
- Visit
Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park — Fiji's first national park, an hour south of Nadi. Walk the one-hour dune loop early before the sand heats up.
- Visit
Sigatoka town — quick stop for the river views and the market; the valley behind it is Fiji's market garden.
Afternoon
- Visit
Natadola Beach — Viti Levu's best swimming beach, on the way back toward Nadi. Swim, then dry off over a late lunch nearby.
- Transit
Natadola → Nadi International Airport, about 45 minutes up the Queens Road. Aim to be at the airport 3 hours before an international departure.(~45 min)

One week in Fiji: a Viti Levu circle itinerary
A week is enough to do what most visitors never do: put a full circle around Viti Levu. This plan runs clockwise — Nadi, the Sabeto valley, Natadola, Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, Suva, then home along the Kings Road via Rakiraki and Lautoka. You'll see the wet and dry sides of the island, the capital, and beaches most day-trippers miss.
Things to do in Viti Levu, Fiji: sights, tours, and day trips
Most Fiji trips land at Nadi and head straight for a boat — but Viti Levu itself rewards a few days. The island packs sand dunes, hot springs, hill forts, Fiji's biggest Hindu temple, and a working capital city into a coastline you can drive in a day. Everything below is on the main island, reachable by rental car or day tour from Nadi or the Coral Coast.
Best beaches in Viti Levu, Fiji
Honest answer first: Viti Levu is not where Fiji keeps its postcard beaches — those are out in the Mamanucas and Yasawas. But the main island has a handful of genuinely good ones, led by Natadola, and knowing which stretch suits you saves a mediocre beach day.
