Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

A place like no other! If you’re looking for a relaxed vibe, look no further. This place has different accommodation types and all very well presented. The view is amazing and you can see Savaii!

An amazing place with fantastic staff, offering a brilliant way to experience Samoa while staying in excellent accommodation. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to Samoa, whether in a group or as a couple. Everything you need is on-site, with willing assistance always available. The animals and size of the property are a great bonus for children.

Ifiele’ele plantation was a beautiful place to stay. I travelled with my dad and we stayed in the largest accommodation which had everything you need and more. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well fit out. The grounds are gorgeous, there is plenty of grass to walk around, tennis court, goats!!, a beautiful swimming pool and lots of nice areas to read and rest. Paul and Joan were so kind to us, their hospitality goes above and beyond. The meals that we were able to enjoy were so delicious. I felt very spoilt! We also had a coconut presentation where Paul went through the stages of coconut milk production and all the other joys in between. We will definitely come back here next time we’re in Samoa. I couldn’t recommend Ifiele’ele plantation more highly!🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺 thank you!!🧜🏼♀️🪷💙⭐️☀️🌋🦦

Lovely place well put together by such a wonderful couple. Definitely makes you feel at work. It's a place I'd recommend for families and Group of friends. You'll get to have the place all to yourselves. Pool, pool side bar, tennis court, huge acre of land to run around or play volleyball and goat farm.

I had a wonderful stay at Ifiele'ele Plantation. The place is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. The hosts, Paul and Joan, are very friendly and helpful. They gave me great tips on what to see and do in Samoa and even drove me to pick up my rental car. The breakfast was amazing, with fresh and dried fruits and coconut water. The pool was refreshing and relaxing. I enjoyed the views of the sea and the mountains from the pool. The location is also convenient, just 15 minutes drive from Faleolo Airport. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and authentic Samoan experience.

We had the most incredible time here, it exceeded every expectation. The accommodation was top notch, the grounds were absolutely stunning, the dinner and breakfast which was optional were delicious, the pool and fale by the pool were gorgeous, the staff were friendly and Paul and Joan were incredible hosts. We had an awesome coconut demonstration which was very interesting and fun. We traveled with a group of all ages from little children to grandparents and everyone had a very special and memorable time together. The accommodation was very well equipt with everything you need to cook for yourselves and we had everything we needed. It was great to have a peaceful space, and our kids loved meeting the family duck and feeding the goats. The dried fruit they make is yummy too. would stay here again, maybe longer next time!
