Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best resorts in Samoa
If you want pool, multiple restaurants, an actual spa and a structured kids' programme, you want a resort — and Samoa's resort tier is concentrated on Upolu's south coast plus a handful on Savai'i. Below are the published full-service properties across both islands.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

Perfect location for starting or finishing your trip to Samoa, it really allows you to slow down. Oceanfront bungalows were lovely - beautiful outlook, the bathroom is small and a little awkward, but the space is well laid out, generally. Restaurant was wonderful, in both variety of options and price. Phyllis in the restaurant is one of our favourite people we came across on holiday, and we were also lucky enough to be there for the fire show - spectacular! There were no real ocean swimming/snorkelling opportunities, but the pool is great, and bar staff were fantastic, delivering drinks and snacks to us ❤️ Check in was a let down, the Manager was offsite, and no-one seemed to know what was going on, we didn't receive some of the options we pre-purchased (we did receive a credit, but would have preferred the service, instead). We will return, but with lowered expectations.

Did not stay at the resort but used the facilities for 3 weeks while in the area. Lovely setting, great food and very helpful staff. My husband enjoyed his fishing trip organised by the resort, unfortunately he lost the big fish but caught two more which the chef cooked up for us. Handy for the airport, ferry and close to Manono Island.

Lovely resort with rooms nice and comfortable with verandah looking over ocean. The place is simplistic with nice gardens and swimming pool area. The food was fantastic with a good variety of meals available. Was definitely my favourite place we stayed at while in Samoa

Beautiful accommodation. Most of the paddles for the kayaks were broken. We enjoyed the SUP and kayak access. Not a place for snorkeling. Nice pool. Appreciated having a water filter in our room and tea and coffee facilities.

We had a great stay at Le Vasa, the beachfront Bure we had was lovely and it was to celebrate my 40th birthday trip and the start of our honeymoon travel year and they had made Love Swans with the towels on the bed which was a lovely touch!! Great service and great staff. We really enjoyed our stay here, a very relaxing and special place. Not too far from the airport and the car ferry as well. It was nice and quiet while we were there and we enjoyed playing on the pool table! Thank you team.

The service from Fia and the dinner and breakfast staff was great. Note if you have a free breakfast with this Resort ask which breakfast is provided. To prevent paying for food thats not part of your deal. Recommend for transit purposes like easy access to port and airport. The bungalows are very, very basic but I can't speak for the other accommodation options. Great pool not sure if suitable for families with young kids. Its struck me being party central. Very intoxicated mature guests - I'm not prudish but incredibly appalling behaviour. Therefore wouldn't recommend for young families.
