Where to stay in Fiji: Nadi, the Coral Coast, Suva and beyond
Fiji's main island, Viti Levu, is where most visitors sleep, and where you stay depends on what you came for: Nadi and Denarau for the airport and the island ferries, the Coral Coast between Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour for beach resorts, Suva for the capital and its markets. Kalena lists Viti Levu properties with guest ratings from verified sources.
Best resorts in Fiji: Viti Levu's top-rated beach and golf resorts
Fiji's resort belt runs along the south and west of Viti Levu: Denarau Island beside Nadi, Natadola and Momi Bay to the south, the Coral Coast from Sigatoka to Pacific Harbour. Kalena lists 34 rated resorts across those areas; the list below is ordered by guest rating from verified sources, not by who pays for placement.

We had an incredible 9 night stay at Wellesley this July. We chose to come here because it is off the beaten track and not so resort-y. I think we made a great choice! Wellesley has a very relaxed pace and is so peaceful. We spent most of our time in the ocean or walking on the beach. We also chose a room with a private pool which worked great for us. The staff were so sweet and were really accommodating if ever we needed something. The people in the local village of Namaqumaqua were wonderful. We were invited to church, to people's homes, and to kava ceremonies! It is definitely a quiet spot.. bring books, games and your own swimming gear if you have it. There were snorkelling masks you could use but that was about it. We also borrowed scrabble for a couple of days. If you want to do more, just ask the beautiful staff and they can help organise other outings with local operations, e.g. river tours or ocean activities.

Highly recommend Wellesley Resort. It's a nice and intimate place with peaceful and beautiful surrounds, right on the beach on a remote part of the Coral Coast. The food was excellent (Raj is a fantastic cook!), the rooms spacious, and the service warm and welcoming. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, so make sure to buy some on the way in (or walk 10 mins nearby to Crusoe's for a cocktail). We will definitely visit again!

Don’t come here if you’re squeamish. The rooms are ill equipped at keeping the critters out. In our room we’ve found giant wasps, giant spiders, geckos, and toads. The gaps underneath the doors are ridiculously large. The food is ok but the Kokoda was quite good, though it was never on time despite them having you write down your food orders hours in advance. The internet service was also abysmal.

This place was seriously such a gem. We stated here for 3 nights in December and it was basically only us and one other couple the whole time! For two ecologists visiting from the U.S., it was a perfect mix of deep nature (with a bunch of accessible trails, tons of biodiversity and INCREDIBLE snorkeling) with nice, clean and safe amenities. We were mostly traveling during the day in other areas, but we had the dinner at night and we thought the food was delicious - a mix between Indian and traditional Fijian cuisine, all hand made right then and there. The property is rich in plant, animal and fungal biodiversity and the beach has easily accessible snorkeling that takes you through seagrass beds and coral reefs, which was spectacular. The only minor thing that we disliked is our room smelt strongly of artificial cleaning supplies which I am very sensitive to, but the manager gave us natural candles and incense right away to help with the smell. Overall it was an incredible experience and I would come back here in a heartbeat.

We were staying at a nearby resort (Crusoe’s Retreat) but weren’t happy with the food and atmosphere there, so I thought I’d walk over and see whether we could eat at Wellesley. We were greeted with warmth and hospitality from Ris and his team (Veti, Meme, Faiza and the rest of the crew). Over our four night stay at the other resort, we ended going everyday for lunch and dinner to Wellesley, including for New Year’s Eve. The food was phenomenal, some of the best that we had during our stay in Fiji. The Fijian Indian curries were perfectly spiced (not too spicy) with really fluffy rotis and the Fijian native food was also really delicious. The garden salad was also really nice and fresh. Do note, in case you’re not staying but visiting for the food. For dinner they have a system where you need to contact them through WhatsApp to order your food ahead of time. As mentioned we also had spent New Year’s Eve here and had an amazing buffet cooked by Ris and the team followed by a Kava ceremony and fireworks. Whilst we didn’t stay there, we visited often enough to get a real sense of the place. It’s really lush, quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view off of the restaurant and pool onto the gardens and the ocean. We wished we stayed here instead of the other resort we were at. Note this place is adults only. Overall we really enjoyed our visits to Wellesley and would highly recommended them. Thanks so much to Ris and his team for welcoming us during our stay in the Coral Coast.

Wonderful and relaxing stay! Highly recommend if you are looking to relax and rejuvenate. You will basically have an entire beach to yourself to watch the beautiful sunrise/set each night and easy access to be picked up from the main highway for tours and day trips. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, Reiss would even remember our food preferences. We had the private pool which was a wonderful addition to our beautiful villa.
