About this property
Taufua Beach Fales sits on Lalomanu Beach in the Aleipata district of southeast Upolu — consistently ranked among the South Pacific's top five beaches. The traditional and enclosed fales line a mile of white sand and reef-protected lagoon known for swimming and snorkelling, and the on-site beachfront restaurant serves bed-and-breakfast plus an à la carte lunch menu of local flavours. Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

A great set of fales positioned right on the beach, with exceptionally well maintained cabins on the other side of the road. The main reason people should stay here is for the communal breakfasts and dinners! It was an amazing way to meet new people and be served some very delicious food and share stories of the days travels. Great snorkelling and kayaking experiences available right on the beach. Staff were incredibly friendly and the Tuesday fiafia night is an absolute must!

My favourite experience and stay whilst in Samoa. I preferred it to the far more expensive resort I stayed prior on the Island (and my group all said the same). It was the vibe and energy of the place. I had a single room air con villa and it was wonderful and very inexpensive. Nice balcony and sea view, tea & coffee facilities and fridge and en suite facilities. I actually didnt need the aircon, the fan and cross ventilation and sea breeze were enough but its there if needed. Yes, you BYO towels, drinking water and the showers are cool but you don't need hot showers in Samoan weather. Do your own laundry (I packed a peg/clothesline for my trip). Breakfast and dinner included and these were very yummy and varied. Meals are at set times, staff knock on your door when ready and you come down and share a long table with everyone. I liked meeting other people and chatting. But the best part are the family and extended family/staff that own/manage it - knowledgable, kind people who want you to understand and learn more about the culture. It was their energy that made the place. Our group also stayed in the family villa and enclosed fale and all were good. There is a little kiosk you can buy some goods and water/soft drink/beer/wine and a supermarket in the next village in walking distance (I bought a gallon of water to save a bit of tala). They also sell lunch daily and a traditional Samoan Sunday buffet, both around 30 tala. I cant wait to go back and would use it as a base next time. Thankyou for the wonderful stay!

This is a must do in Samoa!!! Unreal place to park up on our trip with Cycle Journeys Samoa. The people, the food, and the accommodation were all top of my list. Open fale can make for quite a warm nights sleep.. be prepared for 1am swims!! Bungalos and closed fale(toilet and fan inluded) are available also. Everyone that is staying for dinner eats at the same long table waited buffet stylee.. Great way to socialise with other guests. **While setting up breakfast.. One of the staff saw a young lad surf casting outside the restaurant.. he went and got his kayak and took the lad out to deeper waters and caught a fish before coming back to serve us breakfast. An unforgettable experience for the young fella! If you go to Samoa you need to at least visit the village of Lolomanu. Fa'a fetai lava taufua

Absolutely loved our stay at Taufua Beach Fales! The crew made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The beach is perfect for both sunrise and sunset, which is pretty special. Started each day stepping straight out of the fale onto the beach for an early morning swim followed by a breakfast served on the balcony overlooking the ocean. There is also the option to book a fale with rooms/aircon/bathrooms but we went for the authentic experience. Thank you for such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back many times to visit the LA of Samoa 🌺

We stayed at the Taufua beach resort as well as some other flash resorts. I must say we enjoyed our time at Taufua the most... The staff were so friendly, the food was better than all other higher end resorts we stayed at, and the beach was breathtaking. I gave the Fales a 5 star as they were what I expected, basic but a beautiful fale sleeping experience. If I could give 10 stars then we would. Will be recommending you to everyone thinking about staying in beautiful Samoa. Thank you.

Honestly I would say one of the best places one could stay. Lots of different rooms I stayed in one of the cabins on the hill that had more than enough space for one person, having one single bed and one queen bed and an ensuite. The aircon worked great and veir from the deck is spectacular especially the sunset. Easy access to the infamous Lalomanu beach with multiple beach gales to relax under during a swim. Family owned. I would have to say my absolute favourite part of this would have to be the communal style meals. Everyone who is staying at the fales are invited to eat dinner and breakfast together and they prep the most delicious food!! And it’s a great way to meet others also travelling the beautiful island. I will be back and I’m bringing my village with me next time!
