Litia Sini Beach Resort
Litia Sini Beach Resort is a traditional fale operation on Upolu's south-east coast near Saleapaga, designed for guests seeking a family-run beach experience rather than a polished resort. The king-bed fale is the property's only couples-dedicated option, set beachfront with ocean views, a balcony, fan, and shared bathroom. Breakfast and dinner are included; guests find direct beach access, good snorkelling off the reef, and views across to the Nu'utele Islands. There is no air conditioning, hot water, or Wi-Fi. Airport transfers can be arranged, and the drive from Faleolo airport is roughly 90 minutes.
About this property
Litia Sini Beach Resort is a long-running traditional-fale operation on Upolu's south-east coast, near Saleapaga. Despite the "resort" in the name, the experience is closer to a family-run beach-fale stay than a polished resort — and guests who choose it for that reason tend to come back repeatedly (one reviewer noted their twelfth visit). The property is upfront about its simplicity: no air conditioning, no hot water, no Wi-Fi. The fales are open to the trade winds, with the ocean-view options preferred for the morning light. Breakfast and dinner are included in the stay; the kitchen has handled celiac and other dietary requests well in recent stays. The beachfront is steps from the fales, and the reef offshore is among the better snorkel spots on the south-east coast. Roughly 1h 30min by road from Faleolo airport — most guests rent a car or arrange transfer when booking.

Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from family-run beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.
Kitesurfing in Samoa: lessons, rentals and where to base yourself
Samoa is not a famous kite destination, which is part of the appeal: one dedicated school, uncrowded water and lessons in English, French or Spanish. Seki Kitesurf at Sataoa, on the south coast of Upolu, is the country's only kiteboarding lessons and rental centre, run by an IKO-certified instructor.

We had a great stay at Litia Sini. Lydia and her staff provided excellent service during our stay, and it was the perfect place to relax for a few days. We loved the family-style feeling of the meals, and the staff were very accommodating. The facilities are similar to many campgrounds or "glamping" experiences, so just be sure you're comfortable with that type of lodging. If you are, you can't beat the experience and value of Litia Sini!

Nice, but feels like it could use some TLC. Food is a bit random (three or four tasters each meal) but nice. Lovely view, and easy access to the beach, but unfortunately the sea was a bit rough while we stayed. Optional extras are expensive, especially compared to other places we've stayed - the most egregious I've seen is $20 Tala / $15 NZD for a double shot espresso!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family of 8 absolutely loved our stay at Litia Beach Fales. From the excellent communication before our trip, to the warm welcome and friendly hospitality from Litia and her staff, everything was wonderful. The beach fales overlooking the ocean were beautiful, and having two fales side by side was perfect for our family. We loved being able to walk down the stairs straight into the crystal-clear blue water for a swim. The food was amazing, and having both breakfast and dinner included in the price was fantastic value. Every meal was delicious. This was easily our favourite place we stayed during our trip to Samoa. We highly recommend Litia Beach Fales to anyone looking for a relaxing beachfront getaway and we will definitely be back. Fa'afetai tele lava, Litia and staff, for your wonderful hospitality. From the Katieli Family ❤️🌴🇼🇸

This piece of paradise allows you to experience a traditional Fale style room for evening. The showers are close but be aware there are not hot. Food was ok. We wanted just some hot chips for snack but advised that would only be ordered as a side dish. Ran out of soft drinks also. The staff very friendly and genuinely interested in you. Definitely a must experience when coming to Samoa

It’s my first time here in Samoa and I am gluten and dairy free. The first place I stayed in Samoa did not cater at all. But here has been a completely different story the staff go above and beyound to make sure I’m eating basically the same as everyone else and have no problem catering me at all which is so lovely to not feel like a inconvenience. The staff are amazing and so friendly. I will definitely be back and I can’t recommend this place enough. Especially if you have a dietary restriction and get nervous about travelling. Here you are safe

2 star hotel, 5 star views and service. Litia Sini is such a special place and although basic, it feels like a hidden gem with everything you need to go off grid and relax. We stayed in a waterfront fale and spent almost all our time on the balcony. The beach is great with beautiful water, but the wind does pick up so you would need to keep an eye on little kids / not confident swimmers. Breakfast and dinner are included (you get whatever they are serving, usually small portions of lots of things so like a tasting plate), and the restaurant has an extensive menu if you want to eat at lunch too. Our favourites were the oka and tuna sashimi. Thank you Lydia, Mary and everyone else for a fantastic stay.
