Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best resorts in Samoa
If you want pool, multiple restaurants, an actual spa and a structured kids' programme, you want a resort — and Samoa's resort tier is concentrated on Upolu's south coast plus a handful on Savai'i. Below are the published full-service properties across both islands.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

Having spent time researching through many options of accommodation and resorts my partner and I chose to stay at Seabreeze as the wording 'adults only' caught our eye. Upon arrival at the airport we were greeted by the owners and transported to the resort in an air-conditioned van. Arriving at the resort our luggage was taken to our room. Walking in to the room we were very satisfied with the room and quality of furnishings. We were welcomed and made to feel at home by the owners and staff. You will not be disappointed by this exclusive resort tucked away in a private sheltered beach.

My wife and I spent 10 days at Seabreeze Resort in Samoa for our honeymoon and had an unbelievably nice stay. The resort is clean, safe, and private with comfortable beds and strong air conditioning. The owners and staff are super nice and friendly, greeting us upon arrival and giving us a tour. They sing a song and send you off with love when you leave. The owners, Chris and Roonie, are world-class hosts, striking a perfect balance between friendly hospitality and allowing us to relax and unwind at our own pace. The restaurant food is the best on the island with a ton of options - we could've had a different meal every night. Happy hour is awesome with strong drinks and rotating specialty cocktails. The cultural show was great, and the oka was delicious. The resort is spacious and never felt crowded, with plenty of pool /bar chairs and dinner seats available. We never had to wait our turn for amenities. You can easily choose between socializing with other guests and doing your own thing. The pool is very large and clean, and there's a coastal walk to To Sua Trench right next to the resort. Kayaks, snorkel gear, life vests, water shoes, and flippers are available, and snorkeling right off the beach is great, with coral reefs all around. The resort helps arrange excursions and tours, focusing on your experience. The airport transfer was very easy to arrange, with a clean and fast van and a professional driver. The WiFi is fast, and breakfast is free with many options like fruit, coconut water, eggs, toast, and sausage. Seabreeze is worth every penny and more for the peace, relaxation, and quiet, with world-class staff and facilities. Our time here was unforgettable. We look at our honeymoon pictures almost every day and can't wait to go back.

An amazing little exclusive resort located in the most beautiful cove with crystal-clear water. Excellent food and activities available, with clear-bottom kayaks and snorkelling gear available to use. The pool is stunning and the cocktails are delicious! The hosts (Rookie and Kris) were amazing! Can’t recommend this place enough.

Our stay at Seabreeze can only be described as perfect. We were greeted very warmly by the owners, shown to our room with explanation of the facilities etc . Due to the Resort being very busy when we booked we actually stayed in three different chalets, each unique and very comfortable with beautiful views of the sea and swimming pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the restaurant, another bonus. Chris the Manager dropped us off at the local church to hear the wonderful singing. Another day he took us on a private tour - so appreciated. We will be back as soon as we can. Thank you Roonie and Chris for your wonderful hospitality. Sorry this review has taken a little longer with the busy Retired life we lead 😀.
