Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best resorts in Samoa
If you want pool, multiple restaurants, an actual spa and a structured kids' programme, you want a resort — and Samoa's resort tier is concentrated on Upolu's south coast plus a handful on Savai'i. Below are the published full-service properties across both islands.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

The experience is amazing, helpful and accomodating staff, the place is best for relaxing, the ambience is peaceful. I recommend the place if you you only want quiet and peaceful enviroment and the best thing is affordable compared to the neighboring resort.

Stayed 2 nights - very well built ocean front rooms with great attention to detail; especially the staff who always ensured rubbish was removed from rooms multiple times daily. Adjacent beaches were very busy over boxing day holidays but staff ensured that beach in front of houses was reserved for occupants only. Lovely atmosphere with friendly owners also running the business front end. Faafetai tele lava!

Great spot to spend the day with friends and family. Food was fabulous, cocktails were quite good. Los of space for the kids to roam. I especially enjoyed their fales ($50). Clean facilities and grounds. Friendly staff.
