Maninoa Surf Accommodation

About this property
Maninoa Accommodation and Surf in Siumu is a family-run, surfer-focused stay on Samoa's south coast, run by Levi Luamanuvae — director of Maninoa Surf Tours and an experienced surf instructor. Daily surf tours cater to all skill levels, from first-time surfers picking up a board for the first time to seasoned surfers chasing reef breaks. Lessons and guided sessions are tailored to what each guest wants from the day. A boat is available for transport to prime surf spots along the southern coast of Upolu, where clear turquoise waters meet golden sand and the breaks are uncrowded. Beyond surfing, the team also runs fishing and snorkelling tours — three of the most-requested water experiences in Samoa, all bookable straight from the property. Bookings and inquiries: email mbs.luamanuvae@gmail.com.

Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best beach fales in Samoa: traditional open-air stays
The beach fale (pronounced FAH-leh) is Samoa's signature stay — a traditional thatched-roof hut, open to the ocean breeze, on the sand. You sleep on a mattress with a mosquito net, the family runs the kitchen, and dinner is whatever was caught that day. It's the cheapest and most authentic way to stay in Samoa.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

I had a booking for one of the fales, it got cancelled by them , they offered me a refund or to pay more to go into a luxury room. I chose the refund and I never received it. They have ignored my emails and when they have responded they have been very un-profeshional. Very disappointing !

Amazing surrounding. Fales are a bit too small for a big group of people and they're not sheltered well from the rain especially. Kitchen staff are friendly. The food is tasty but portions are too small if you're dying to eat. I would say the food was pricey.

We are so glad we found this place! It's between two high end resorts, but we were able to park our car and access the beach for much cheaper than the resorts. Snorkeling was excellent although I would recommend not at low tide. Offshore there are some spikey looking urchins (?) so watch where you step--otherwise very safe, absolutely calm waters. The owner's dog "brownie" even kept us company and provided entertainment for the afternoon as he playfully caught crabs on the beach! Owners are lovely down to earth Samoans.

This is a great family escape place that is so easily accessible. Only 25 minutes from Apia. The beach is very safe for children. The facilities are great. Very nice food and excellant hospitality. The bathroom facilities are clean and adequate. Prices are most reasonable and fair. We love this place and visit here regularly.
