Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best resorts in Samoa
If you want pool, multiple restaurants, an actual spa and a structured kids' programme, you want a resort — and Samoa's resort tier is concentrated on Upolu's south coast plus a handful on Savai'i. Below are the published full-service properties across both islands.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

Always a great experience staying here. Best Fia Fia night in Samoa. Their Island Grill Night is also great. The rooms are spacious, large beds and the outdoor shower is stunning. Luna and her team are fantastic. Highly recommend.

Le Manumea gives you an experience you don’t forget. Set in a peaceful, natural environment, it’s the perfect place to slow down and soak in the true essence of Samoa. But the staff are what make this place shine, always friendly, sincere, and full of heart. The dynamic Cook Island Mother and Daughter duo, the son-in-law and kids run this place so well. It truly reflects the real Polynesian mana, spirit and makes every moment feel special. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and blend beautifully with the surroundings. A decent kitchen that serve lovely meals and a small but vibey bar, perfect for sundowners. It’s frequented by expats and locals who work at international organizations that are within the vicinity. The FiaFia Night and Siva Afi fire show is the best in Apia (every Thursdays with a brilliant Host!). Grill Night on Wednesday’s is a must too, your choice of meat and open salad bar.

My stay at Le Manumea Hotel was truly unforgettable. From the very first moment, I felt welcomed not as a guest, but as part of a family. The hotel is surrounded by nature and peace, a perfect place to slow down, breathe, and truly experience the soul of Samoa. The atmosphere is calm, authentic, and deeply relaxing, exactly what you hope to find when traveling to these beautiful islands. What made the experience exceptional, though, was the staff. Every single person was kind, genuine, and always smiling. Their warmth, care, and attention made my stay incredibly special. You can truly feel the Samoan spirit here: respect, hospitality, and heartfelt generosity. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and perfectly integrated with the natural surroundings. Waking up here feels peaceful, and every day starts with a sense of gratitude. Thank you to the entire team at Le Manumea Hotel for making my time in Apia so meaningful. I will carry these memories with me, and I truly hope to come back one day. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an authentic, reminding, and soulful stay in Samoa.

Le Manumea Hotel was honestly the perfect place to stay in Samoa. This beautiful 4-star hotel is set in an incredible location, surrounded by lush green mountains that instantly make you feel relaxed and grounded. It’s close enough to the city center to be super convenient, but far enough to be peaceful and quiet — the ideal spot to truly rest, recharge, and get ready to explore everything Samoa has to offer. The staff are absolutely amazing. So friendly, welcoming, and always available for anything you need. From the moment you arrive, you really feel looked after, and that makes all the difference when you’re traveling. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and well maintained. And the common areas are exactly what you want on holiday — a lovely restaurant to enjoy great meals and a swimming pool that’s perfect for unwinding after a day of adventures. If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, calm, great service, and a stunning natural setting, Le Manumea Hotel has everything you need for an unforgettable stay in Samoa. Highly recommended.

I had the most incredible stay at La Manumea. From the moment I arrived, Luna and her amazing team welcomed me like family —it felt like home. 💖 The rooms are absolutely stunning and spacious — I was squealing when I walked in! A huge comfy bed, beautiful outdoor shower and bathroom, a spacious kitchenette, and a big patio overlooking the pool. Everything was spotless and so thoughtfully designed. 🌺✨ The food is unbelievably fresh, straight from the market, and the fire show is spectacular, hilarious, and hands down the best in Apia. 🔥🌴 The pool and fairy lights at night create such a magical vibe to sit with dinner and a nice, cold drink. The staff are so attentive, warm, and friendly — they go above and beyond to make sure you’re cared for. I’m endlessly grateful to Luna and her beautiful team for their kindness and generosity. They truly made my time in Samoa unforgettable, and I’ll be forever thankful for the love and memories shared at La Manumea. 🌈💫
