Mt Vaea Track

Mountain · Upolu · Apia

Trail behind the RLS Museum climbing 470m to Robert Louis Stevenson's tomb on the summit. Two routes — the short, steep "Road of Loving Hearts" (~30 min up) and the longer southern ridge path (~1.5 hr up) — both end at a low stone tomb with sweeping views over Apia harbour. Best in early morning to avoid the heat.

The volcano whose 1905–1911 eruption created the Saleaula Lava Fields below. Trail starts behind Manase. Wear shoes that can handle loose volcanic rock.
