Best waterfalls in Samoa

Samoa is volcanic, mountainous, and perpetually green — which means waterfalls everywhere. A handful are big, dramatic, and reachable by sealed road; many are off-grid and require a local guide and a small village fee. Below are the ones worth the drive.

About this guide

On Upolu, Papapapaitai (or Tiavi) and Sopoaga falls sit on the cross-island road and are a 10-minute detour each. Fuipisia (further east, near Lotofaga) is taller and lets you swim at the base. Togitogiga in the south is a small cascade with safe pools — popular with families. On Savai'i, Afu Aau (also called Olemoe) at the southwest is a forest pool you can swim in; Mu Pagoa near Pu'apu'a tumbles straight into the sea — unique. All are visitable in a single circle-of-Upolu day or as part of a Savai'i loop.
