Best stays in Samoa: where to sleep across Upolu and Savai'i
Samoa's accommodation runs the full spectrum — from US$30-a-night beach fales where you sleep open-air to the lagoon, through family-run boutique hotels in Apia, all the way to five-star resorts with overwater bungalows. Picking the right one depends entirely on what you're after: barefoot authenticity, restaurant variety, or a swim-up bar.
Best stays in Upolu, Samoa
Upolu is where most Samoa trips start. Faleolo International Airport, the capital Apia, and the bulk of the country's resort-tier accommodation all sit here. The south coast (Lalomanu, Lotofaga, Siumu) is the postcard side; the north has Apia and the working harbour.
Best beaches in Samoa
Samoa's beaches are the kind that consistently top "world's best" lists and somehow stay uncrowded. Most are on customary land — you'll pay a small village fee (typically WST 5–20) at the gate, which goes back into maintaining the site. Below: the ones our travellers come back about.

Stayed for 2 nights, absolutely stunning views, beach, clear water, available drinking water from restaurant, nice showers and clean toilets. Staff was very friendly and helpful, but, since we were the only ones there, dinner was a bit rushed, food was good, not great. Tea and coffee available all day. In general - would stay again

What an incredible stay! For a solo woman traveller, I felt really safe and they took good care of me. They prepared my Fale and made sure that I missed nothing. The breakfast and the dinner provided was really good! You can do snorkeling and you can hire mask and snorkel. Thank you for everything! Fa'afeteai

One of the Beach Fales situated at the starting point of 📍Lalomanu. Anita's beach fale is very hard to miss with it's open hut (Falesamoa) with bright orange colored poles. Great space and place for all age groups to be. Either overnight or just a day visit. Customer service is splendid, food's delicious, and they have a bar selling both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks plus snacks. They have 1 closed unit with it's own private bathroom and the rest are Falesamoa with shared facility(bathroom). This place is kid friendly. 😊

My wife and I just came here for lunch, not to stay. The view was absolutely beautiful. The lady serving at the bar was friendly, polite, and helpful. We ordered drinks and a seafood platter to share which was plenty for us. The food was tasty and fresh and prices reasonable. Can recommend 👍.

Location is not as close to Apia but you need to venture out to get to the good beaches! Trust me, it'll be worth it. My friend and stayed in the only bungalow that had an en suite. It was certainly worth it and I'd recommend it. The only slight let down were the meals. Since there are no amenities close by (because you're in a remote village) you have to rely on the accommodation to provide refreshments (which aren't cheap). Breakfast was AMAZING but lunch and dinner wasn't anything to write home about. I'd have preferred Samoan meals for lunch and dinner to be honest!
