Bushfires in Savai'i: A timely reminder to stay safe and protect Samoa's beauty
Recent bushfires on Savai'i highlight the importance of fire safety and community vigilance in protecting Samoa's natural environment.

The Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority (SFESA) recently tackled recurring bushfires in Savai'i, including one near the beautiful village of Falealupo. This incident, alongside a persistent fire in Samalae‘ulu, saw firefighters from both Savai'i and Upolu working together to bring the blazes under control. It's a powerful reminder of the challenges our islands face, especially during dry and windy conditions.
The SFESA deployed crews from Maota and Asau fire stations, even bringing in additional personnel and equipment from Upolu to help.
