Fiji Fuel Shortage Impacts Flights to Nadi

Recent fuel supply issues at Nadi Airport in Fiji have caused flight disruptions for several airlines, including Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia.

Air New Zealand is one of several airlines having to bring in extra fuel to Fiji and cancel flights as a national fuel shortage affects the country's international airport.

Travellers heading to Fiji might experience some disruptions recently, as a fuel shortage at Nadi Airport has impacted several airlines. Air New Zealand, for example, has had to tanker fuel, cancel one service, and use larger aircraft for two other services to manage the restrictions. Virgin Australia's flights to Nadi are now refuelling in other locations like Port Vila or Noumea, and some of their services have also been cancelled. Qantas is also using larger A330 aircraft on its Sydney-Nadi route to avoid refuelling in Fiji altogether.

While Fiji Airways states it doesn't anticipate disruptions, it confirms the shortage is due to an unusable fuel delivery from a supplier. They are working with government agencies and Fiji Airports Limited to maintain smooth operations. It's a reminder that travel plans can sometimes hit unexpected snags, even in popular holiday spots. We hope for a swift resolution to the supply issues, ensuring smooth journeys for everyone travelling to and from this beautiful part of the Pacific. Always a good idea to check with your airline for the latest updates before you fly.
