Apia Yacht Club Charts New Course for Sailing and Water Sports in Samoa

The Apia Yacht Club has elected a new leadership team, aiming to boost sailing and water sports participation across Samoa.

Black said the club was looking ahead to an exciting period focused on growing participation in sailing and water sports across Samoa.

The Apia Yacht Club recently welcomed a new executive committee, with Aloma Seiuli Black stepping in as Commodore for the 2026–2027 term. This exciting development follows their annual general meeting at the Mulinu'u clubhouse, where members looked back at the past year and elected their new team.

Commodore Black shared her enthusiasm for the club's future, highlighting a focus on increasing involvement in sailing and other water sports throughout Samoa. She noted that it's an "incredible period for the club, filled with enthusiasm and a shared love for the ocean." The committee's key goals include encouraging more young people to take up sailing, expanding training opportunities, and organising events that bring families and the wider community together.

The new leadership team includes Tarx Morrison as Vice Commodore, Moe Tevaga as Secretary, Moe Tevaga and Hanalei Brown as Treasurers, and Vitolia Iamafana as Fleet Captain. Raema von Reiche, Benj Harding, Salamasina von Reiche Ripley, Tash Koyanasau, and Paul Davies join as committee members. The club also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the outgoing Commodore, Tofa Fritz Rasch, and his previous committee.

Everyone, from seasoned sailors to aspiring juniors and families keen to get involved with water activities, is encouraged to join. The Apia Yacht Club plans a diverse range of sailing programmes, water sports activities, and community events in the coming year, all designed to grow participation in the sport we love.
